BEN BYRNE was born in London, and studied Drama & Film at the University of Manchester. Soon after, he moved to San Francisco, from where he travelled the world, working in cultural insight and as an ethnographic film-maker. He later lived in New York, where he began to write seriously, alongside playing indie rock music, before settling back in the UK after a stint in Japan.

His debut novel, FIRE FLOWERS was published by Europa Editions in the UK & US in 2015, having originally been published as FIREFLIES by House of Anansi Press in Canada in 2013. Described as ‘Excellent’ by The Independent, and ‘Eye-opening’ by the Wall Street Journal, it was featured a WH Smith Fresh Talent title.

His short fiction has appeared in Litro magazine, Writer's Hub and Open Pen, with two stories - WAITING FOR A HURRICANE and LOW TIDE AT ENGLISH KILLS - published in the OPEN PEN ANTHOLOGY in 2016.

He has just completed his second novel.

Right now, he lives in Sussex.
